The development of environmental DNA research and environmental detection is still the key to environmental protection

Recently, the Associated Press reported that researchers in Maine are studying the DNA of rare fish living in waters to protect rare fish species from extinction in only 14 lakes and ponds. According to news reports, one of the purposes of researchers' collecting and studying "environmental DNA" is to collect basic information about rare fish and microorganisms related to their living environment, so as to ensure the stability of their living environment.
Obviously, this method is more convenient and less invasive than the traditional gill net fishing method, and can avoid the risk of damaging fish for protection. But at the same time, it also indirectly admits that some research methods of human beings have certain potential harm to the natural environment. The original intention of this study is to protect rare fish, but both objectively and subjectively, human activities are one of the main reasons for this phenomenon. Generally speaking, there are three main reasons why species are on the verge of extinction: species invasion, excessive predation and environmental damage, which are closely related to human development. In the face of species invasion, the fundamental solution is to strengthen the supervision of illegal release and illegal import; in the face of excessive predation, it is necessary to establish clear laws and regulations to curb the persistence of this phenomenon. What is really difficult to deal with is the endangered species caused by environmental damage. Therefore, the work related to environmental detection is also of great significance in species protection
Generally speaking, there are two main purposes of environmental monitoring for species protection. One is to find out the problems, taking the greenhouse effect as an example. Glacier melting and sea level rise lead to the decrease of living area and the change of living environment, which will indirectly lead to the situation that some species are on the verge of extinction, and even in the relatively simple ecological environment of some biological chains, it will directly affect the stability of the whole biological chain. However, through environmental monitoring, we can quickly find out the causes of glacier melting and sea level rise. Through the meteorological detection instrument, we can find the rising trend of temperature year by year, and find that the problem may be caused by global warming; and through the detection and monitoring instruments of greenhouse gas such as carbon dioxide detector and sulfide analyzer, we can preliminarily find that the problem is the increase of greenhouse gas emissions, which leads to the greenhouse effect. Not only that, with the further rise of greenhouse gas detection, the relevant institutions have also found its impact on rainwater acidification, which can effectively analyze the greenhouse effect caused by acid rain and other harmful weather, endangering inland animals and plants.
Another purpose of environmental monitoring is to solve the problem, taking the greenhouse effect as an example. One of the main measures we take to solve the adverse effects of greenhouse effect is to reduce and limit the emission of related gases. With the rapid development of detection instruments, on the one hand, in the face of factories, where a large number of waste gas is released, sulfide and nitration detection can effectively supervise and control the relevant exhaust gas emissions; on the other hand, with the establishment of atmospheric multi parameter online analysis system, the air condition in the large environment can be effectively supervised.

Man and nature should be a harmonious relationship. Over the years, human development has never left nature. In time, with the rapid economic development, energy and raw materials are still obtained from nature. Similarly, animals and plants, as well as human beings, are all part of nature. Protecting nature is to protect animals and plants, but also to protect ourselves.
